Nazanin Aghakhani

Nani 2Born and raised in Vienna, parents of Iranian heritage, Russian and Indian (and probably other to her yet unknown) ancestry in her blood.
Conductor, pianist, sound sculptor and composer; wife and mother.
Musical wandering years in Stockholm, Helsinki and Munich.
Now, after 9 years, back to the Austrian alps.
Nazanin-Aghakhani-1First woman ever in history to conduct the Tehran Philharmonic in Iran.
Concerts as pianist presenting own improvisational style.
Sound sculptor and designer, composer for art events.
Founder of teaching practice “the Nana Method©” for young human beings.
Also lecturer on subjects “women in leading Aghakhanipositions”.
And mostly – a passionate orchestral conductor who had the honor to elaborate her skills from the age of 12 with masterminds like Erwin Acel, Thomas Christian David, Leif Segerstam, Jorma Panula and Yuji Yuasa.
Of course – studies culminated in an official Master of Arts in orchestral conducting from the Sibelius Academy – but a concert itself is Nani and Seeli 3usually more important and interesting than a Curriculum Vitae or an academic title…

Next possibility to hear/see Nazanin Aghakhani as a conductor live on stage will be in Finland:

September 3, 2013 at 7 pm: Septemberfest Festival, Temple Rock Church. Aghakhani conducts CELEb String Ensemble, soloists: Lily-Marlene Puusepp (harp), Folke Gräsbeck & Risto-Matti Marin (piano).
